About us
After their dojo unexpectedly closed its doors late in June of 2014, the students began their search for a way to continue their Danzan Ryu training. They convened during taco night at a local restaurant to discuss their options, and by evening’s end, Ronin Kai was born. A rōnin was a feudal samurai with no master; rōnin, literally meaning "wave man," represents someone adrift and without a home. With the founding members in place, they took on the task of building a new home for their martial arts training, holding class wherever they could, including one of their garages.
They hope to pass along their combined knowledge by training new students in Danzan Ryu Jujitsu, Meishin Muso Ryu Iaido, Pacific Asian Restorative Therapy, and self-defense. Ronin Kai offers classes to adults ages 15-100. Through the support of the AJJF (American Judo & Jujitsu Federation), the members continue to enhance their skills by attending clinics and other sanctioned events and enjoying frequent opportunities to train at other DZR dojos in the area.

About the arts
Danzan Ryu Jujitsu 檀山流 "Sandalwood Mountain System"
Danzan Ryu Jujitsu was founded by Henry Seishiro Okazaki in the 1920’s in Hawaii. The style incorporates escapes, joint locks, throws, ground grappling, striking and combinations with additional training in weapons and weapons defense.
The ultimate goal of Danzan Ryu Jujitsu is completion of character. It achieves this goal by retraining the body/mind relationship so that fear is replaced with confidence. Danzan Ryu is a sophisticated martial system designed to cultivate your warrior-spirit.

Meishin Muso Ryu Iaido
Meishin Muso Ryu is a style of Iaido by Shuji Matsushita. Iaido is the art of drawing the sword and cutting or striking the opponent. The movements of Iaido are controlled and precise and require mental presence and concentration. |
Pacific Asian Restoration Arts
Okazaki believed that along with the ability to break the body, comes the responsibility to mend it. At Ronin Kai we practice resuscitation skills and deep tissue bodywork in order to heal the body. |
